Which 1Home to choose? Guided selector and range comparison
Four questions are enough to narrow the range to one or two references: what system you have, how many objects you want to control, which platform you target, and whether you need a wall panel. The rest is sizing, and that is our job.
This is the advice the manufacturer's site does not give, and it is exactly why we exist: nobody buys a smart-home gateway for fun, they buy it to solve a precise use case. The wrong product is not the expensive one, it is the one that does not cover your case.

01Question 1 — Which system do you have?
This is the eliminating question: a server dedicated to one ecosystem does not work with another.

02Question 2 — How many devices or group addresses?
This separates the entry level from the full server. The right order of magnitude is not counted in rooms but in controllable functions.
- Narrow scope — an apartment, lighting and a few blinds: the IoT Gateway is usually enough.
- Complete house — lighting, shading, per-room heating, a few scenes: Server KNX Pro territory.
- Several dwellings or a fleet — the question becomes administration: System Manager.
03Question 3 — Which platform do you target?
Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, Matter: the choice drives both the product and the ancillary hardware (an Apple home hub for remote access, for instance).
- Apple household — target HomeKit or Matter exposure and plan an Apple home hub.
- Mixed iPhone/Android household — go through Matter: multi-admin allows several platforms in parallel.
- Heavy voice usage — check which object types the assistant can represent.
- No assistant — the app and a wall panel are enough.

Frequently asked questions
Can I switch to another 1Home product later?
Yes. The naming and structuring work stays valid because it comes from your ETS project. The cost of a change is mostly recommissioning time, not lost configuration.
Server KNX Pro or IoT Gateway for a single-family house?
In most complete houses the Server KNX Pro is the right call. The IoT Gateway suits a reduced scope. The tipping point depends on how many objects actually need exposing.
